Counting luna

Does anybody can explain why we have two functions for this (in specprima):

186     my ($luna, $mo) =
187       ($year >= 1900 && $year < 2200)
188       ? gregor($m, $d, $y, $lang)
189       : luna($m, $d, $y, $lang);

they differ slighty in results.

Not sure where they come from.
What is sure is that the Gaussian 'm' value is not changing between 1900 and 2199. So maybe one function uses a simplified algorithm keeping 'm' constant.
