Items/spell access for Trusted Players

Is there anyway to grant trusted players access to specific item from the PHB that they can browse and add to their character sheet, without giving them assistant GM permissions?

I would like my players to be able to view and add items from the Core Game module (specifically just Gear, Spells, and Talents) so they can have more involvement with the system, and takes some work of my plate as the GM, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the “configure ownership” to work correctly.

I have also tried out the Folder Permissions macro but have not had any success. Is there an ordered process that needs to be done for this to work? Any suggestions or help would be mush appreciated.

If you are on Foundry v14, you can change the folder ownership permission to observer and that will give players that observer permission, which will allow them to get the item and drag to their sheet.

Thanks for the response. I tried what you suggested and my trusted player accounts are still not able to see or access the items. I have tried the following steps below. Let me know if there is anything I am missing.

Foundry v14 Build 364

1. As GM: Go to items tab, click on Core Game to open Items folder.
2. Right-click on Gear folder and select Configure Ownership
3. Click on All Players drop-down menu and select Observer and then Save Changes
4. Reload Application and logout as GM
5. Login as Player2 (Trusted Player), go to items tab and nothing is showing up.

Other attempt:

1. As GM: Add Folder Permissions Macro to my hot-bar and open it from there.
2. In the drop down menu select Core Game: Gear
3. Set permission to Observer and then click Change Permissions to confirm.
4. Reload Application and logout as GM
5. Login as PLayer2 (Trusted Player) and go to items tab and nothing is showing up.

Hopefully this helps to show the process and if I am missing any major steps or doing something wrong. Let me know if there is any additional info I can provide. Thanks for the help.

The permissions don't get inherited. Hence, you need to apply them at the lowest folder level, so if in Spells you have the subfolders for the different schools with the individual spells in it, you need to apply the permission to e.g. the Spells folder and the Mentalism folder.
