Release v1.0.0 - Bridge Importance Scoring MVP

Overview

First stable release of the Bridge Importance Scoring MVP - a quantitative bridge importance evaluation system using heterogeneous graph analysis and network centrality metrics.

What's New

This is the initial release featuring a complete pipeline for bridge importance scoring:

  • Betweenness Centrality Scoring: Identifies critical bottleneck bridges in urban transportation networks

📊 Execution Results (Yamaguchi City)

Successfully analyzed 791 bridges in Yamaguchi City:

  • Execution Time: 36 minutes 28 seconds
  • Graph Size: 18,998 nodes, 25,666 edges
  • Processing Area: 1,948.1 km²
  • Success Rate: 97% bridge-to-road network mapping

Key Findings:

  • 6 high-importance bridges (0.8%)
  • 41 medium-importance bridges (5.2%)
  • Geographic concentration in Ogori district (highway IC access)
  • 52% of bridges within flood risk zones (50m from rivers)
  • Historic infrastructure identified: Aoi Bridge (1931) ranks 7th

  • Reduced processing scope by 89.6% through intelligent city filtering
  • Implemented robust error handling for OSM data fetching
  • 97% bridge-to-road snapping success rate

Installation

# Clone repository
git clone https://github.com/yourusername/bridge_importance_score.git
cd bridge_importance_score

System Requirements

  • Python 3.8 or higher
  • 4GB+ RAM recommended
  • Internet connection for OSM data fetching

Documentation

Known Limitations

  1. Scalability: Betweenness centrality computation is O(n³), limiting applicability to very large networks (>50k nodes)
  2. OSMnx API: Building and bus stop data currently unavailable due to API changes
  3. Runtime: ~35 minutes for centrality computation on ~19k node graphs
  4. Single-threaded: No parallel processing implemented yet

Roadmap

v1.1 (Next Minor Release)

  • Fix OSMnx API compatibility
  • Add approximate centrality computation for faster processing
  • Implement multiprocessing support

v2.0 (Future Major Release)

  • PyTorch Geometric integration
  • Machine learning-based prediction models
  • Real-time traffic data integration
